Reports to: Maintenance Engineer (Substations)
Key Results Areas
-
Monitor switchboard instruments to detect disturbances and ensure proper functioning of the equipment.
-
Perform routine inspections and maintenance on electrical equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers and auxiliary supply systems.
-
Monitor performance of transformers & switchgear and documenting any anomalies.
-
Carry out operating as per switching instructions from National Control Center and to receive switching instructions.

Respond to emergencies and outages including operating to interrupt current flow and connecting alternate circuits as needed.
-
Undertaken monthly energy meter readings.
-
Ensure proper housekeeping in substations.
Person Specifications
-
Ordinary Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
-
2 years’ experience in power system operation and maintenance.
-
Ability to work for long hours outside the normal hours.
-
A person of integrity, highly motivated, innovative, proactive and committed team player.
-
Willing to work in any of the following UETCL substations (Gulu, Nebbi, Nkenda (kasese), Tororo, Bujagali, Karuma, Achwa, Muzizi, Kabalega (Hoima), etc.).
Terms of Employment and Remuneration
The successful candidate will be offered a contract subject to the Ministry of Public Service Guidelines on the Rationalization Exercise of Government Institutions.
