
Job Summary:
The Security Officer will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for the bank’s assets, staff, visitors, and customers. This role includes patrolling and monitoring installations, conducting checks, and providing guidance on entry and exit protocols in accordance with best practices in security management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement security policies, protocols, and procedures to maximize safety and security.
- Coordinate and review security activities, including access controls, to safeguard assets and personnel.
- Report compliance issues weekly to the Administration and Security Manager and prepare security reports.
- Respond to medical emergencies, bomb threats, fire alarms, and intrusion alarms as per security risk management procedures.
- Conduct monthly inspections and risk assessments of all bank sites, reporting changes in security posture.
- Plan and coordinate activities of hired security personnel.
- Supervise the custody of head office keys and manage premises access.
- Detect crimes and assist police in apprehending wrongdoers; testify in court as needed.
- Aid in obtaining police reports on fraud cases and recovery efforts per security policy.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Postgraduate diploma in Security Management is preferred, along with workplace security experience.
- Minimum of three years in a security organization/industry (e.g., Police, Army, Prisons) with advanced first aid or trauma training.
- Experience in investigations and intelligence gathering, familiar with security technologies (CCTV, fire detection systems).
- Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures.
- Proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Office and statistical data analysis.
- Well-versed in current security threats in Uganda and neighboring countries.
- Experience in the financial sector, preferably within commercial banking.
- Strong drafting, communication, and reporting skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
