Surface Grinding Machine Operator
QUALITY PLASTICS UGANDA LIMITED is seeking a Surface Grinding Machine
Operator who will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining surface grinding machines to ensure the precision machining of metal or non-metal workpieces. The operator must ensure that finished products meet required specifications while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Mukono.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate surface grinding machines to grind workpieces to the
required specifications.
• Select appropriate grinding wheels and adjust machine settings such as speed,
feed, and depth of cut.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job specifications.
• Measure and inspect finished workpieces using micrometres, callipers, and other
precision measuring tools to ensure accuracy.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of grinding machines.
• Ensure grinding wheels are properly dressed and replaced when necessary.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment
(PPE).
• Monitor grinding operations to detect any issues or irregularities in the process.
• Adjust machine settings to improve productivity and ensure quality output.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
• Perform any other duties which may be required by management.
Qualifications
• Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related
field is an advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Surface Grinding Machine Operator in a
manufacturing or metalworking environment.
Knowledge & Skills:
➢ Basic knowledge in English (verbal and written)
➢ Good knowledge of applicable standards, local rules and regulations
➢ Understands Ugandan traffic laws and regulation.
➢ Ability to work under pressure.
