Job Summary:
The Stores Assistant will manage and organise various stores within the factory, including raw materials, finished goods, and spare parts. The role ensures products are stored correctly, inventory levels are maintained, and goods are accessible for distribution. Responsibilities include handling goods, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with other departments to ensure smooth operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management:
    • Receive, inspect, and record incoming and outgoing goods.
    • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
    • Organize goods in storage areas for easy retrieval.
  • Storage and Handling:
    • Safely store goods according to company guidelines.
    • Use proper handling equipment to move goods within the warehouse.
    • Maintain cleanliness of storage areas.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Update inventory management systems with product details and quantities.
    • Maintain accurate records of goods received, stored, and dispatched.
    • Generate inventory reports as required.
  • Quality Control:
    • Inspect goods for quality issues or damage.
    • Report and follow up on discrepancies or issues.
  • Collaboration:
    • Coordinate with logistics teams for the movement of goods.
    • Assist in the preparation of goods, ensuring proper documentation.
    • Support and train other stores staff as needed.
  • Compliance and Health & Safety:
    • Follow company policies related to stores and inventory management.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Adhere to health and safety regulations and participate in safety training.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a busy environment, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
  • Skills:
    • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with inventory management software.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
    • Physical ability to lift and move heavy items.
    • Experience in operating warehouse equipment like forklifts (training can be provided).
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Preferably a Ugandan national or holder of a Certificate of Residence; open to expatriates.
    • Age: Above 30 years.
  • Remuneration: Salary is negotiable.
