
Opportunity Bank Uganda Ltd (OBUL) is hiring Recovery Officers (14) to work on recovery of non-performing loan, Pick learnings from the previous mistakes and recovery of written-off loans in the portfolio as per the Banks recovery guidelines.
Reports to: Branch Manager
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Credit Quality:
- In collaboration with the Assistant Managers Relationship, Branch Managers and the Collections supervisors, obtain a list of non-performing loans and closely follow them up for collections
- Clearly document all the collections efforts undertaken for each of the cases
- Follow up the written off loans and document efforts made in recovering the loans
- Monitor the loan repayment accounts of written off loans and ensure collections of any amounts thereon.
- Work closely with auctioneers/ debt collectors to follow up on their progress on cases allocated to them for recovery.
- Develop a list of lessons learnt during recovery for strategic guidance on our lending business.
- Make weekly and monthly reports to the Collections Supervisor on progress of collections efforts.
- Ensure that the recovery processes are adhered to avoid putting the bank at a risk of legal battles
- Ensure all recovered funds are directly deposited on the customer account and by all means avoid receiving customer funds on personal Mobile phones or accounts.
- Effective communication to the branch managers, supervisors & collection unit with respect and timely is expected during your time with the bank.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identify risk factors and establish frameworks to mitigate risk in the collection department making sure there is a faster mechanism in place to enable quick and early detection and escalation of issues when they arise.
- Ensure compliance to Credit policies and procedures, BOU regulations, budget parameters, procedures and the risk management framework operational within the Bank.
- Responsible for audit, risk and BOU findings /reports, and helping resolve issues raised as well as ensuring no repeat findings.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree/diploma in any recognized institution
- More than six months experience in credit operations.
- Knowledge of debt collection regulations
