Description

Makerere University Lung Institute (MLI) is hiring a Pharmacist with the following abilities;

Effort Time: Full time

Duration: 12 months, renewable upon satisfactory performance

Primary Location: Lung Institute Offices, New Mulago

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop study-specific pharmacy manuals and standard operating procedures
  2. Dispensing investigational medical products (IMPs) according to specified procedures
  3. Maintaining IMP accountability and study documents in the pharmacy study binder
  4. Maintaining proper IMP storage conditions
  5. Communicating IMP related issues to the study team, distributors, and sponsors
  6. Inform patients on the correct use of study medication and counsel patients on when they should take the medication
  7. Sourcing concomitant medicines and medical sundries locally
  8. Training of study team on IMP and patients or providers on correct use of IMP
  9. Support calibration of all equipment used during trials
  10. Ensure compliance with trial medicines storage
  11. Act as a liaison between NDA and MLI, import drugs & sundries and assist with ethical submissions
  12. Support supervision of junior pharmacy staff including training of new pharmacy staff and interns
  13. Provide a weekly report on all pharmacy related activities Qualifications and Requirements:
  14. A bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
  15. Registration with the Pharmacy Board at the Ministry of Health Uganda
  16. Annual Membership Certificate (AMC) from the  Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda
  17. Good Clinical Practice (GCP) or Human Subjects Protection (HSP) certificate
  18. At least one years’ experience in a research or clinical trial setting
  19. Experience using the NDA Management Information System is desirable
  20. Procurement and supply chain experience is desirable

Desired Skills:

  • Good communication and scientific writing skills
  • Good computer (Excel, Power point, Word) and IT skills
  • Good teamwork and problem-solving skills
