Medical Officer
The Medical Officer will provide and maintain curative and preventive health care services in accordance with National Health Service standards.
Responsible For: Clinical Officers, Nurses, and Midwives under his/her unit
Key Functions
a. Diagnosing, treating, and managing patients.
b. Promoting public health practices in the community.
c. Participating in research activities and health data collection.
d. Participating in daily management of both outpatient and inpatients as assigned by the head of Department.
e. Participating in surgical procedures within your capacity of training.
f. Supervising lower cadres such as clinical officers, staff nurses, student nurses, and other allied health professionals.
g. Participating in periodic doctors’ meetings for smooth hospital operations.
h. Conducting or participating in monthly departmental meetings.
i. Maintaining accurate records of activities in the department.
j. Compiling all records to ensure smooth operation of the health information system and data collection.
k. Being polite in relationships with patients, attendants, staff, superiors, and subordinates without distinction.
l. Adhering to the professional and Roman Catholic Church Code of Conduct and Ethical Code.
m. Participating in continued professional development.
n. Carrying out any other relevant duties assigned by the Medical Director.
Person Specifications
- Must have an MB, Ch.B or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Must be registered and licensed with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
