Description
Tenna & Pharma Laboratories is hiring Laboratory Technologist (2) with the following key responsibilities;
Reports to: Laboratory Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct sample collection, reception, handling, transportation, processing, storage, and disposal according to established protocols.
- Perform laboratory testing in Immunoassays, including ELISA tests for infectious diseases, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, and related disciplines.
- Operate fully automated laboratory analyzers and ensure accurate reporting of results in the Laboratory Information System.
- Ensure implementation of quality assurance and quality control procedures in compliance with the facility’s standard operating procedures and Gulf Health Council laboratory standards and regulations.
- Prepare timely and accurate test reports and ensure timely dispatch of laboratory results/reports to appropriate users while maintaining accurate records of tests carried out and ensuring correct data entry on report forms as well as batch registers.
- Ensure that all urgent results are communicated to users with minimum delay after rechecking and confirming any abnormal results and discussing with the consultant prior to dispatch.
- Monitor turnaround time of results and manage referral specimens to other hospitals.
- Ensure maximum and cost-effective utilization of reagents and appropriate stocking of reagents and consumables, maintenance of stock records, test costing, and expense monitoring in the section.
- Plan and place supply orders with Procurement in liaison with the Lab Manager.
- Implement and participate in all quality control programmes in the sections and represent the allocated section at QC and departmental level meetings.
- Apply biosafety and biosecurity measures using risk-based assessment approaches.
- Carry out routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Perform troubleshooting and ensure routine calibration and validation of laboratory equipment.
- Develop, review, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for laboratory operations.
- Maintain proper laboratory documentation, records, and inventory management.
- Participate in internal audits, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation processes.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, infection prevention, and waste management guidelines.
- Support continuous improvement in laboratory services and client satisfaction.
- Participate in continuous medical education programs of the department and regularly update the technologists with new and existing techniques.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Biomedical Laboratory Technology from a reputable institution.
- Must be registered with the relevant professional body and possess a valid practicing license.
- At least 1 year of experience in a busy diagnostic laboratory.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality management systems and biosafety practices is an added advantage.

- Experience using fully automated laboratory equipment and analyzers.
- Ability to conduct equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration.

- Ability to meet turnaround times.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality management systems and biosafety practices.
