Electrical Technician

Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is hiring an Electrical Technician to o inspect, maintain, test, and repair high-voltage substation equipment under the direct supervision of a maintenance engineer (substations).

Department: Network Operations and Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Engineer (Substations)

Key Result Areas

• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on substation equipment, including transformers, switchgear, AVRs, and auxiliary systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of substation equipment to identify and address maintenance needs.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on transformers, switchgears, and other electrical equipment.
• Manage inventory of replacement parts and tools, ensuring all necessary supplies are readily available.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
• Document and report on maintenance activities including repairs and inspections conducted.
• Respond to emergency outages and equipment failures, working to restore power as quickly as possible.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards in all maintenance activities.

Person Specifications, Experience and Competences

• Must possess either a National Diploma or a Higher Diploma in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering.
• Must have at least two (02) years of relevant experience in maintaining high-voltage power transformers and switchgear.
• Specialized training in high-voltage equipment maintenance will be an added advantage.
• Willingness to work extended hours when required.
• A person of integrity, highly motivated, innovative, proactive, and a committed team.
