Description
Q-Sourcing is hiring a a skilled and experienced Chinese Chef to join our culinary team at an oil rig camp. The ideal candidate will specialize in authentic Chinese cuisine and deliver high-quality meals that cater to the cultural preferences and nutritional needs of camp workers in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Menu Development
- Plan and execute a variety of authentic Chinese dishes, including regional specialties, to provide a diverse dining experience.
- Develop menus that balance taste, nutrition, and cost-effectiveness, with options for dietary restrictions and preferences.
2. Food Preparation and Cooking
- Prepare and cook meals according to established standards of taste and presentation.
- Ensure consistency in flavor, texture, and portion sizes.
3. Inventory Management
- Monitor food supplies and coordinate with procurement teams to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Ensure efficient use of resources to minimize waste and control costs.
4. Hygiene and Safety
- Uphold strict food safety and hygiene standards in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and storage areas.
5. Team Collaboration
- Work closely with other chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Train and mentor junior staff on Chinese cooking techniques and best practices.
6. Adaptability
- Adjust menus and cooking methods to accommodate the unique challenges of a remote location.
- Respond to feedback from workers to improve meal satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Chinese Chef in a high-volume kitchen, preferably in a remote or camp setting.
- Expertise in traditional and modern Chinese cooking techniques.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Working Conditions
- Remote camp environment with rotational schedules.

Preferred Skills
- Fluency in Mandarin or a major Chinese dialect (desirable).
- Experience catering to diverse dietary needs and preferences.
- Demonstrated expertise in Chinese cuisine, including specialties such as dim sum, wok dishes, roast meats, Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine, noodles, and dumplings.
