The  Assistant Swimming Coach will be mainly responsible for assisting the Swimming coach to facilitate and coordinate training programs for swimmers. He / She will also maintain pool side discipline, reinforce all rules of the pool and maintain Health & Safety at the pool. The major responsibilities will be:

Health & Safety

  • Be responsible for opening and closing the pool facilities (this is likely to include some weekends.
  • To assist the Swimming Coach by identify & control hazards.
  • To use the right water treatment chemicals.
  • Ensure that the pool premises including the pool, washrooms and changing rooms are maintained in a good state of repair and clean.

Pool side Discipline and reinforcement of all rules

  • To ensure the physical, social and psychological welfare of the students and pool users.
  • To support, promote and act within the School’s Safeguarding Policy.
  • Coordinate and manage meetings and other events.

Swimming instruction for the school

  • To assist the Swimming coach to facilitate training programms for new swimmers
  • To ensure that the stipulated normal and emergency operating policies and procedures for the swimming pool facility, are adhered to at all times.
  • Monitor each student and polish their skills by providing special coaching
  • Provided latest practical knowledge of swimming sports to students.
  • Arranged for snack and food for the team during practice session and competition.
  • Promoted participation of students in competition based on their skills.
  • Attend activities and events as determined by the Head Swimming coach.

The requirements

Qualifications, Experience

  • A diploma and a certificate in swimming instruction course may be required.
  • Relevant license or certification may be required.
  • And Basic First-aid training is recommended.
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience
  • A PGCE is an added advantage

Skills (technical/behavioral):

  • Excellent lifesaving skills.
  • Ability to determine swimming level and analyze techniques.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Good knowledge of health and nutrition.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work long hours
