Description

BDO Uganda is hiring a Business Services & Outsourcing – Associate to provide high-quality accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance services to clients across various sectors in line with the Firm’s standards and methodologies. The BSO Associate will maintain client financial records, prepare management accounts and statutory returns, and support business process improvements while ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and regulatory frameworks.

Stakeholder relationships – Internal: All departments, regional staff

External: Clients, potential clients, suppliers, etc.

 

 

Key Result Areas, Roles and responsibilities

1. Client / Market Focus & Centricity (Client Service Excellence)

  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of all assigned client tasks per the Firm’s standards, methodologies, and timelines.
  • Prepare client deliveries, including management accounts, reconciliations, reports, presentation decks, etc. within agreed deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate books of accounts for clients.
  • Prepare periodic financial statements in line with Applicable reporting frameworks and local regulatory requirements.
  • Carry out process reviews, assessments in accordance with agreed client frameworks or terms of reference
  • Prepare clients’ and payroll payment schedules in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist with the client payroll processing cycle, including statutory computations.
  • Prepare and file accurate payroll returns.
  • Ensure all statutory deductions are computed and filed within the stipulated timelines.
  • Address review comments and instructions received from supervisors in client specific task and deliverables.

2. Compliance/ Risk (Quality and Risk Management)

  • Ensure all client tasks are carried out according to firm policies.
  • Apply risk management procedures and ensure all engagements are compliant with internal policies.

3. Employee & Leadership Excellence (People)

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients by being responsive, accessible, and solutions-oriented.
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding ongoing assignments and deliverables.

4. Growth and Profitability (Financial Growth & Business Development)

  • Contribute toward the achievement of the financial target of the Firm by registering a utilization of at least 85%
  • Contribute towards business development by identifying opportunities for serving existing or new clients
  • Participate in proposal writing / draft financial quotes a

5. Operational Excellence (Sustainability)

  • Proactively identify ways to streamline client service processes.
  • Contribute ideas for automation, templates, or efficiency improvements.
  • Stay updated with changes in tax, accounting, and financial reporting standards and communicate relevant updates to the team or clients.
  • Attend internal/external training sessions and apply learnings to client work.

6. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisors from time to time.

Experience & Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related fields.
  • ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification in progress or completed.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in accounting, audit, or outsourcing services.
  • Working knowledge of local tax laws, and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
