Description
Enabel in Uganda is seeking to recruit a Governance and Accountability Officer based in Jinja. You will support the implementation of governance and accountability interventions that strengthen inclusive, transparent, and responsive systems. You will also coordinate stakeholder engagement, support citizen participation, and build the capacity of partner institutions. It will also promote accountability and improved service delivery to achieve sustainable development outcomes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support governance and accountability interventions by coordinating and implementing activities that strengthen transparency, citizen participation, social accountability, and responsive governance systems
- Engage and build relationships with stakeholders by working closely with government institutions, communities, civil society, and project partners to promote inclusive participation and collaboration.
- Provide technical support and capacity building by Supporting partner institutions and communities with technical guidance, training, and tools to improve governance practices and accountability mechanisms.
- Monitor, report, and promote learning by tracking project progress, document results and lessons learned, and contribute to reporting, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Governance, Public Administration, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Law, Political Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in governance, accountability, citizen engagement, institutional strengthening, or community development programming.
- Strong understanding of governance systems, social accountability approaches, stakeholder engagement, and capacity-building methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government institutions, civil society organisations, communities, and development partners.
- Excellent facilitation, report writing, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- High integrity, professionalism, teamwork, and ability to work independently in multicultural and multi-stakeholder environments.
