Organization: Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Job Type: Full-time

Position Summary:
The Program Officer will provide cross-cutting coordination, analytical, and operational support for program activities. Based in Kampala, the role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who excels in a dynamic environment and is capable of handling multiple projects efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordination:
    • Support program implementation to achieve deliverables.
    • Represent the program at national and sub-national levels.
    • Engage with stakeholders and internal programs for improved coordination.
    • Collaborate with health workers, facility in-charges, and local governments to promote interventions.
  • Operations:
    • Plan logistics, including procurement and third-party payments.
    • Provide administrative support for program development and implementation.
    • Maintain donor reporting schedules and assemble reports.
    • Perform basic finance functions and ensure compliance with CHAI Uganda policies.
  • Analytics, Monitoring, and Evaluation:
    • Assist government partners with planning and operationalization of recommendations.
    • Develop and track work plans and budgets for program activities.
    • Compile and ensure accuracy of activity and program reports.
    • Support proposal preparation and documentation of best practices.
  • Cross-Cutting:
    • Undertake additional tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, business, public health, or a related field.
  • 3-4 years of experience in a results-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong analytical skills, organizational abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to synthesize information and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with government stakeholders and knowledge in Health Systems Strengthening, Sexual Reproductive Maternal and Newborn Health, or Health Financing is an advantage.
